Finished it!

Magic Bleeds - Ilona Andrews

Wow! Well this one grabs you by the short and curlies and doesn’t let go until the very last sentence. I was exhausted by the time I’d finished. I may need to take a break before I order the next one from the library. (Oh who am I kidding?). And that reminds me. Thank you so much to whoever told me the trick about suspending a library book hold when it looks as if you will have two books becoming available at the same time. It worked like a dream.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. I adore Kate and Curran as a couple, even though there are times I want to bang their heads together for being so stubborn. The world-building and the details about Kate’s background are great - not info-dumpy, but revealing just enough to make the reader want to learn more. I love the humour, particularly all the Princess Bride references. Curran saying, “as you wish”, just has me in stitches. The secondary characters are all very distinct and the reader cares about them too. In fact, this series is everything the Anita Blake series could have been if only Laurell K Hamilton hadn’t spectacularly nuked it to hell.

I'm fangirling again, aren't I?
