Books, hockey, and a bucketful of snark

Well, as expected, I absolutely galloped through this one. The first book in this series introduces us to Matthew Shardlake, a hunchbacked lawyer in the employ of Thomas Cromwell. As the series progresses, we follow Matthew and his investigations, which are sometimes on the periphery of the Tudor court, and sometimes, slap bang in the middle of it.

Lamentation, the sixth book in the series is set right at the centre of the Tudor court with Matthew trying to find out who has stolen a possibly incriminating document from Queen Katherine Parr. 

As always Sansom brings Tudor England to life. Real people from history mix with fictional characters. Forget Phillipa Gregory, these are the books you should be reading. 

And at the end of book we are left with the tantalizing possibility that Matthew will be returning with a new royal employer.
