Because running
Because running

I'm a runner. Not a very fast one it should be said. I'm never going to win a race or stand on the podium at the Olympics. But I enjoy it and it has given me a lot of pleasure and some pain too over the years.

Katherine Switzer is one of my running heroes. If it wasn't for her determination to run Boston in 1967, as well as Bobbie Gibb (who ran as a bandit the previous year), and countless other women, I probably wouldn't be entered for an assortment of road races this year, because the officials would still think I was too fragile to run further than 800m and concerned that my uterus might fall out.

Thank you Katherine. I have three half-marathons under my belt, and my uterus has stayed firmly in place.
