Mount TBR 2015 - Book 45

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier, Sally Beauman Rebecca's Tale - Sally Beauman

Books which show us another side of a more famous work are always intriguing, but can be a bit hit or miss. There are some truly dreadful 'what happened next/previously' books out there; particularly when it comes to Pride and Prejudice for some reason. But there are also some gems. Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys is a wonderful book about the early life of the first Mrs Rochester, who readers have only seen as the mad-woman in the attic who causes all sorts of problems for Jane Eyre.

And Rebeccas's Tale is about another first wife who also gets a bad press but isn't able to tell her side of the story. I just hope she has more backbone than the second Mrs DeWinter.
