The Devil's Inheritance - Toby Purser

Occasionally gets a bit info-dumpy, but it's a period of history I'm interested in, so I'm always happy to learn more. And the author obviously knows his subject.

I'm impressed with how he's got round the problem of some of the characters having the same name. Such as Harold's sister and mistress both being called Edith. He gives the mistress the old spelling of Eadgyth. Though IIRC Harold also marries a different Edith, so I'm interested to see if there's yet another spelling variation.

And then there's William (the conqueror) and William (FitzOsbern), who thankfully for this easily confused reader, become William and Will.
